Global Literacy through fun Spanish Language Mixers in San Marcos, Texas
 The "Intercambio Spanish Language Mixer" offers social meetings where students speak Spanish face-to-face three times per semester (Fall and Spring) and virtually once per semester while developing Global Literacy through social interaction in San Marcos, Texas.
We currently meet face-to-face only during the Spring 2024 at Mochas and Java's Coffe Shop on Sessome Street. This program is sponsored by the World Languages Department & the ​International Students and Scholar Services at Texas State University.

Intercambio guests love the homemade muffins made by Mochas & Java's coffee shop during our events.
All members of our community are welcome. You do not have to be a student to participate. Police officers came to practice their Spanish too!
We have brochures and advisor's info for those interested in majoring or minoring in Spanish at Texas State University.

 In Spring of 2024, the founders initiated a second Intercambio, catering to an average of 10 students per event at the Round Rock campus of Texas State University. Language facilitator, Prof. Luann Williams, takes a group picture.

BENEFITS
Participants enhance their Spanish language proficiency through interactive activities and real-world conversations. Students develop global literacy which is understood as “cross-cultural fluency and responsiveness in understanding, engaging and communicating in an interconnected world” (Univ. of Maryland, BA, 2017-2018, President’s Fellows).

Additionally, we have free coffee, ice tea, muffins, cookies, snacks, raffles, contests and prizes during each event!!

Virtual Intercambios take place during summers and may also take place during special events like "Dia de Muertos". You can meet people connecting from different countries.
